Ms. Lauren Crawford opened Rapture Dance Company's doors for the first dance class on April 18th in 2016. Ms. Crawford is the Owner and Artistic Director of Rapture Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of five and has been teaching and choreographing throughout the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area for the past thirteen years. She grew up dancing in the Northern Kentucky area in many different genres as a competitive dancer, traveling to competitions and conventions within the tristate. As an educator, she is well known for her mentoring capabilities and ability to inspire others through positivity and growth within the artform of dance. At the young age of twenty-two years old, she graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Dance and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Opening her own dance studio has been a dream since she was 10 and it's been surreal to see her dream become reality. Ms. Crawford has high expectations for Rapture Dance Company and her students. She thoroughly enjoys watching them grow year after year in their dance education and confidence, and is looking forward to another wonderful season with our dance family!
As a dancer in the Bachelor of the Fine Arts program, she was privileged to be a part of the Dance Troupe from 2013 through the Spring of 2016. This is a touring company that does outreach to different schools within the tristate. As a member of Dance Troupe, Ms. Crawford also had the opportunity to perform in the Arnoff Jarsan Kaplan Theatre and the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati, performing for the classical and alternative musician Ólafur Arnalds, and performing in the spring dance concert at NKU each year. She was also cast in The Bacchae during the 2014-2015 theatre series. Some of her work has also been featured in the 2016 spring showcase, Dance '16. Throughout her years at NKU she has had the opportunity to work with many accredited choreographers including Tracey Bonner, Heather Britt, Dee Ann Bryll, Jay Goodlett, Lea Lachey, Drew Lachey, Andrew Pearson, and Karen Wing. Within her major, she studied numerous styles of dance including Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, and Tap.
